Sportshall Athletics has swept Durham City during November.  20 schools have taken part in 3 heats across the city.  Each heat included running, jumping and throwing events.

Schools brought a team of 18 athletes to compete, with each individual taking part in 4 events.  Individual results were added together to make a team score.  A high standard was seen across all of the heats, with new records being set by athletes.

Here is Harry Winham from Esh Winning setting the Standing Triple Jump record of 5.66m!!

The two schools with the most points in each heat were invited to the Durham City Final.  These schools were Bowburn Juniors, Bluecoat Juniors, Esh Winning, St Godric's, St Margaret's and Shincliffe.  Only 4 schools managed to compete in the final on 23rd November.  Here they are raring to go!

The winners of the final were St Margaret's, with Bluecoat coming in 2nd place.  There were only 6 points seperating these two teams ... a very close call.  Both teams will represent Durham City in the County Durham Finals.  We have high hopes for both teams!  Here are the St Margaret's team celebrating their victory!

We must thank young leaders from DCBC, Durham Johnston and St Leonard's school for helping out during the competition.  They all did an excellent job!!

Congratulations to all teams who took part, and good luck to our winners in the County Final!
