Over 500 children from 2 primary schools across Durham and Chester-le-Street took part in Sportshall Athletics competitions.

Throughout November 6 competitions have been held at various secondary schools in the area, organised by Durham & Chester-le-Street School Sport Partnership (SSP). Each school brought a team of girls and a team of boys to take part in a range of track and field events including; various relays, speed bounce, long/vertical/triple jump, javelin & chest push. The scores from all the events, boys and girls are combined to give a total overall score.

The atmosphere at each of the competitions was electric, with everyone showing real team spirit and getting behind all the athletes. And with some tight on the line finishes in the track events it was vital everyone gave their all.

Each of the host secondary schools; Fyndoune, DCBC, Park View, Durham Johnston, Framwellgate & Belmont, utilised the competitions as a fantastic event for their young leaders to be involved with and build on their leadership skills.
