On Thursday 26th January, 16 primary school teams descended upon Soccarena in Belmont to contest the annual Indoor 5 a side football  trophy. The schools were put into 4 groups and every team played each other twice on their pitch. The event ran very smoothly due to the great help by the Soccarena Academy students who refereed, kept the scores and made sure the matches were timed correctly.

After the group stages the top two teams in each league progressed through to the Quarter Finals. These matches were all very close affairs won by the odd goal and two matches had to be decided by penalties. And so to the Semi Finals. St Godric's defeated Nevilles Cross and Bowburn saw off Blue Coat. The final between St Godric's and Bowburn was the teams' 3rd match against each other in the afternoon and St Godric's eventually triumphed to lift the trophy. Both teams are pictured below along with the Academy students. A BIG thank you to the staff at Soccarena for all their assistance during the day.

St Godric's will now go through to represent Durham City in the County Semi Finals later this term.
