Durham City SSP's mixed football leagues and cups have started with great gusto. As we are part of the Durham County primary Schools FA some of our competitions mean that teams can qualify to play in County competitions, Regional tournaments and even National Finals. The first competiton of the season was the ESFA Boys 7 a side cup played at Finchale Primary school on Tuesday 20th September which saw 11 schools compete. After all the group matches were played the four top teams played in the semi finals. Blue Coat defeated Choristers in a penalty shoot out and St Godric's beat Finchale by the odd goal. The final was a great advert for primary school football and in a close game St Godric's won 1-0. They now go on to represent Durham City in the County semi finals - we wish them all the best!  This is a National competition with last year's final being played at Watford's Football Academy.

On Monday 26th September three schools played in the Eden Colliery Trophy - a competition for small schools who have less than 100 pupils in Key Stage 2. The competition took place at Durham Community Business College and Finchale primary school were the winners. They go through to the County Finals on the 19th October. This is also a National Competition.                                                                                  STOP PRESS - ST GODRIC'S HAVE NOW QUALIFIED FOR THE COUNTY FINALS ON TUES 18TH OCTOBER

Four schools took part in the Alan Grimes Trophy on Tuesday 4th October at Durham Community Business College - a County-wide competition for schools who have over 100 pupils in Key Stage 2. St Godric's battled through to win the Durham City round and they will play in the semifinals of the competition in March 2012.

Twenty five primary schools in Durham have entered our leagues this season. They have been didvided into three leagues and are played at DCBC, Finchale and Durham Johnston over a four week period. The updated league tables can be found by clicking on Leagues on the left hand side of the home page. At the conclusion of these leagues the top three teams from each league will play each other in a new league in the New Year, as will the middle three teams in each league and the bottom teams. It should be a very exciting season.
