About The Event

Zambia Run is a fun way of getting all children from your school involved in some inter-school competition.  Pupils will run a fun run course based on their age group (KS1, Y3/4 Y5/6).  This event is organised by Team Durham (Durham University) as a fundraiser for their Sport in Action work in Zambia.

Sport in Action Zambia is a Non Governmental Organisation based in Lusaka in Zambia which aims to enrich the lives of young people through sport, physical activity and the promotion of social messages through sport.

Each year the Wallace Group which comprises of University of Stirling, Northumbria University, Loughborough University, University of Bath, Cardiff Metropolitan University, St Andrew’s University and Durham University send 5 students each go  out to Zambia to work in orphanages and compounds teaching netball, football, volleyball and basketball, the students also assist with PE lessons in schools and after school clubs.

The money raised from the run will go towards purchasing sporting equipment for Sport in Action: Zambia, which will in turn be loaned out to schools and compounds to increase the quality and quantity of the sports sessions that can be run.

The cost of the run will be £2 per child You may also choose to ask children to gain sponsorship for the fun run, to raise some extra money for this worthy cause.

Entries will close 17th February 12pm
